The US government has imposed sanctions on 11 firms tied to the Iranian bank Melli.

Washington says the bank is helping to fund Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

The US government has imposed sanctions on 11 firms tied to the Iranian bank Melli.

All assets in US jurisdictions have been frozen, and US citizens are barred from any transactions with the firms.

All 11 firms are owned or linked to the bank or its subsidiaries. They include manufacturing and investment concerns in Iran, as well as holding firms based in Dubai and some with offices in the Cayman Islands.
