Chinese lawmakers are continuing their deliberations over a Draft Food Safety Law, taking aim at low efficiency that has been blamed for repeated food scandals. They are reviewing the bill at a meeting of the National People's Congress Standing Committee -- China's top legislative body.

It's the fourth reading of the draft law since the end of 2007. This version makes it clear the State Council -- China's Cabinet -- will establish a commission to strengthen the country's food monitoring system.
