Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said that as Chile's largest trading partner, China is willing to improve ties by verifying ways of cooperation and encouraging two-way investments.

Wang Qishan, Chinese Vice Premier said "China's development injects vitality to the world economy and also bring many new opportunities. China welcomes more Chilean businesspeople to come and do business. We also encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Chile."

Chile is the first country to sign Free Trade Agreement with China. Bachelet said that her country has benefited and will continue to benefit from the ever-growing economic and trade ties with China.

Michelle Bachelet, Chilean President said "I hope that Chinese companies can take Chile as a good platform to go through into the Latin American market. Chile's businesspeople like to work together with Chinese entrepreneurs to develop third markets in the entire American continent. In addition, we hope to further consolidate our cooperation in areas like politics, culture and education."

China and Chile signed two agreements at the forum, concerning bilateral banking cooperation and collaboration between small and medium sized enterprises.

China and Chile have also signed a service trade pact supplementary to their free trade agreement (FTA). The FTA took effect in October 2006 and a year after that, bilateral trade soared 65 percent year on year.
