Hu delivers keynote address on Asia´s development, peace and prosperity

Special Report: BFA Annual Conference 2008In the southern province of Hainan, it's day two at the Boao Forum for Asia. President Hu Jintao was at the opening session and gave a keynote address that focused on Asia's development, peace and prosperity.

This year's theme is "Green Asia: moving towards win-win through changes." The annual meeting is being attended by more than 1,700 participants.
Long Yongtu, Secretary-General of the BFA presided over the meeting.
When addressing the event as a keynote speaker, President Hu Jintao briefed the meeting on the successes and experiences of China's reform and opening up in the past three decades. He reiterated China's determination to stick to the course of reform and opening up.
President Hu also introduced China's policy of peaceful development and its strategies on mutual benefits.
President Hu said, "Our experience in the past 30 years tells us that China's development and progress cannot do without the world, and the world's stability and prosperity cannot do without China. As the world becomes further diversified and economic globalization deepens, the future and fate of China are becoming ever more closely connected with the future and fate of the world."
Hu Jintao also stressed ecological balance and made proposals to strengthen cooperation in Asia and promote the region's peace and mutual prosperity.
Established in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia serves as a platform for high-level interaction between the leading political, financial, and academic figures from Asia and other parts of the world.
