China´s Ambassador to India: Singh´s visit significant to bilateral ties

Speaking to CCTV in an interview, Zhang Yan said Singh's visit to China is significant to the China-India relationship.
Zhang Yan said, "I believe that the visit will surely enhance understanding and friendship, expand the two sides' mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and push forward the two countries' strategic partnership."
The ambassador said the bilateral relationship has gained rapid progress in recent years. Leaders of the two countries have frequent exchanges which has cemented the two governments' mutual political trust.
When discussing trade between China and India, Zhang said that economic and trade ties have become a highlight of the bilateral relations. It's predicted that trade volume between China and India in 2007 has surpassed 35 billion US dollars. Zhang added India announced that China became its largest trade partner for the first time last year.
Zhang Yan said, "Chinese enterprises have a very positive trust in the Indian market and they have seen great potential. I have visited many Chinese investments in India, and have found that they all have a long-term cooperation plan. Our embassy will also do its best to help promote bilateral trade."
When talking about the border issue, Zhang said the two sides have held 3 meetings during 2007 and achieved notable results. Zhang said long standing peace and stability in border areas is the result of mutual efforts.
