Pakistan suicide blast kills at least 24

A suicide bomber has blown himself up outside a court in Pakistan killing at least 24 people and wounding dozens more.

Most of the victims were policemen.

This is the latest in a wave of attacks targeting security forces ahead of February's parliamentary elections.

Local police say a motorcyclist tried to enter the High Court building in the country's eastern city of Lahore on Thursday. More than 200 lawyers were planning a protest rally nearby.

The suicide bomber blew himself up when police tried to stop him from heading into the building. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

President Pervez Musharraf has strongly condemned the attack and ordered a thorough investigation. He also vows to continue fighting terrorism and extremism.
