Rural issue, anti-corruption high on CPC meeting agenda

Special Report: 17th CPC National CongressThe CPC Central Committee Political Bureau has met to discuss how to resolve China's agricultural problems and its fight against corruption. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Hu Jintao presided over Tuesday's meeting.
The Political Bureau noted China's agriculture still faces many problems. It called for re-adjusting the development mode of agriculture, enhancing productivity, ensuring supply and maintaining increases to farmers' income.
Politburo members stressed the need for reinforcing small-scale water conservancy and irrigation projects. They also called for improvements in technology and the living standards in rural areas.
The Political Bureau also recognized that anti-corruption is a long-term and arduous task. It directed Party committees at all levels to spread anti-graft education and urge self-discipline.
