Chinese FM: Iran has right to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful means

Chinese Foreign Minister has appealed for a peaceful resolution to Tehran's standoff with the international community over its nuclear programme. Yang Jiechi says Iran has the right to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful means.

Yang said, "China follows a firm position of safeguarding the international nuclear non proliferation regime and promoting peace and stability in the larger Middle East. At the same time we believe Iran has the right to peacefully use nuclear energy on the basis of following relevant international rules." "At the same time, we have made it quite clear relevant U.N. resolutions including Resolution 1737 and Resolution 1747 should be implemented."
