Iran says any further UN sanctions over its nuclear program will prove fruitless.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammed Ali Hosseini made the comments on Sunday, only a day after the five permanent Security Council members and Germany discussed a new round of sanctions.
Hosseini warned the six powers not to expect Tehran to give way on its nuclear program.
Mohammed Ali Hosseini, Spokesman, Iran Foreign Ministry, said, "If these powers are trying to deprive Iran of its rights, resolutions and sanctions will be fruitless".
The five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany had agreed to delay sanctions against Iran until the end of November, pending a report by Javier Solana on his mediation efforts.
And the report from the International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran was cooperating, but not proactively.

Iran insists its nuclear activities are a national right and that it is working in line with international law and regulations.
Mohammed Ali Hosseini, Spokesman, Iran Foreign Ministry, said, "If there are some expectations that are beyond treaties, then they are unacceptable to us. And as we have always confirmed, we will negotiate in the framework of international treaties and will continue our cooperation."
Two rounds of sanctions have already been imposed on Iran over its failure to halt uranium enrichment.
The West believes Tehran is using the process to build atomic bombs.
Iran insists it just wants power plant fuel.
