Israeli and Palestinian delegations head to Washington

Israeli and Palestinian delegations later headed to Washington to prepare for Tuesday's conference.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni met with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the Watergate complex on Sunday.

Palestinian President Abbas was also seen departing his hotel to attend a meeting. A senior aide to Abbas, Nabil Shaath, says he does not expect a major breakthrough to result from the Annapolis conference. But he hopes the increased attention to the conflict will help instigate progress.
