Musharraf will stay in power

President Musharraf says he has been thinking about his options as leader of Pakistan during the recent political crisis.

Speaking to Britain's Sky News in Islamabad, he indicated that he has considered stepping down but would do so only if and when he thought it was the right time to do so.

Pervez Musharraf, Pakistani President, said, "We have to see if there's a way that my going will ensure balance and stability in Pakistan, that is the best time that I would like to quit. OK and I am seeing that, I am looking at that. If my requirement is there to ensure that turmoil is avoided and we go into election and elected government comes in that is the best way of handling it."
