Delegations from all over the country are beginning to arrive in Beijing for the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Ethnic minorities make up over a tenth of the CPC delegates. The Tibetans were the first to arrive.

Delegates from the Tibet Autonomous Region arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport October 12, 2007. A total of 2,217 delegates have been elected to attend the upcoming 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which begins on October 15. [Xinhua]

One Tibetan delegate, said, "As a CPC member from the remote border region, I feel very excited that I can take part in the upcoming National Congress. I'll always take people's expectations to heart, and express my opinions and suggestions on the great project of Party building."

Another Tibetan delegate, said, "I am a grass-roots teacher. I've come to tell the government and all Chinese people that Tibet has changed a lot, and to ask for new ideas."
