Special Report: Chinese killed in EthiopiaThe Chinese workers who were kidnapped in Ethiopia have now returned home.
The seven workers were released on Sunday and arrived back in Beijing on Wednesday. They say they were not given enough water during their captivity and the food left some of them with diarrhea.
Officials from the Foreign Ministry, the Commerce Ministry and their employer, Sinopec, welcomed them at the airport.
The workers were kidnapped last Tuesday in a rebel attack that killed dozens of Chinese and Ethiopian workers in southern Ethiopia.
Tens of thousands of Chinese work overseas, and the Foreign Ministry says protecting their safety has become an urgent task.
