Haj pilgrims arrived in Mina in Saudi Arabia on Saturday for the traditional stone-throwing ritual. The ritual symbolizes the stoning of the devil.
Pilgrims hurl stones at three pillars representing the spot where the devil is said to have appeared to Abraham.
Saed Ali, pilgrim, said, "I'm here for the stoning today. Everything is going very well and it's a new and a very good system after having difficulties before."
The Haj is one of the five pillars of Islam. All Muslims are expected to perform the pilgrimage at least once during their lifetime.
On the same day, Muslims in Lebanon also celebrated the festival. At dawn many went to cemeteries to visit the graves of their relatives. This, to take part in a ritual celebration.
