Iraq: 71 killed in explosions

In Iraq, 56 people were killed and another 58 wounded by explosions on Saturday. In Hurriyah, a mixed neighborhood in the Iraqi capital, an explosion left 15 civilians dead and wounded 25 others.

The explosion occurred when many Iraqis were busy buying goods for Eid al-Ahda, the most important holiday on the Islamic calendar.

In Kufa, a shiite town south of Baghdad, a bomb was planted in a minibus located inside a fish market.

There was no indication that the attacks were related to the execution of Saddam Hussein.
