More on the 2007 Lunar New Year cross-strait charter flights the six airlines in Taiwan that are taking part have said that their preparations are well underway.
The six Taiwan-based airlines have each added two flights to Beijing on their schedule. For the Far-Eastern Airlines, this will be their first time flying to Beijing.
Zhang Youpeng, Pr manager, FAR eastern airlines, said, "We are very glad that we have spare flights to Beijing. We'll definitely arrange a celebration party there."
A huge number of Taiwan businesspeople are working in the Yangtze River Delta region and east coastal cities on the mainland, therefore the Taiwan carriers are expecting an overwhelming demand for the routes to Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiamen. Although there has been a global oil price hike this year, airline companies say the ticket prices will stay more or less the same.
Zhang Youpeng, said, "Although the total number of flights has increased, demand still exceeds supply. All flights are expected to be over 90% full."
The six Taiwan airlines will announce the flight arrangements and receive reservations at the end of this month.
