Although the 2007 Spring Festival is still two months away, passengers are already booking their seats for the season's charter flights across the Taiwan Straits.

The holiday charter flights start on February the 5th and end on March the 2nd. And just like last year, the cities served are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Taipei and Kaohsiung.Passengers must be Taiwan residents with valid travel documents. Six Taiwan and six mainland carriers will operate a total of 96 non-stop round-trip charter flights. Each airline is adding two more round-trip flights.

Shanghai and Eastern Airlines, which have already decided their schedules, say they'll use some jumbo jets, including the Airbus A-320 and A-330.

Some airlines are now accepting reservations. Carriers on both sides of the straits are confident that holiday business will be good.

The Cross-Straits Spring Festival charter flights started 3 years ago. Such is the demand that this year, the civil aviation associations of the two sides have agreed to add on four more days.
