Pakistan: Medium range missle test successed

The Pakistani military has successfully tested a medium range ballistic missile called the Shaheen-One. The nuclear-capable missile has a range of 700 kilometers.

Wednesday's launch was part of exercises by the Pakistani Army's Strategic Force Command. The military said in a statement that the test marked the end of the exercises, and validated the operational readiness of a group of operational Shaheen-One missiles.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Ehsan Ul Haq, witnessed the test. He noted it was a demonstration of the readiness of the strategic weapon system. He said that Pakistan can be proud of its defense capability, and the reliability of its nuclear deterrence.
