Iraqi President meets Iran´s Supreme Leader

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has met Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the second day of his visit to Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the ongoing violence in Iraq was a loss for the countries of the region, and Iran should contribute to Iraq's security. He reiterated that the US should end its occupation of Iraq and hand over power to the democratic government of Iraq as soon as possible.

Talabani is seeking Iran's help in quelling the escalating insecurity and violence that's threatening to tear his country apart.
