More than fifty killed in two coal mine accidents in China

Two coal mine accidents have killed more than fifty people and injured dozens of others in China.
In Fuyuan, a mountainous county in Yunnan Province, thirty two miners are confirmed dead and 28 more injured in a gas explosion. Authorities said the rescue work is continuing, but the exact number of miners in the shaft when the explosion took place has not yet been verified.
Another accident happened in Jixi, a city in Heilongjiang Province, with twenty-one dead and six more remaining missing. The gas blast occurred on Saturday afternoon when thirty one miners were working in the shaft. Only four managed to escape. Further investigations into the cause of the explosions are underway.
