Sam Worthington's rising star lit up the "black carpet" at the Hollywood premiere of this latest film, the 3D action flick, "Clash of the Titans." The screening took place recently at the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater.

The Australian actor is on the verge of breaking into "A-list" status following his turn in "Avatar".

In "Clash of the Titans," a remake of 1981's feature of the same name, Worthington stars as Perseus, who was born a god but raised as a man. After finding himself powerless to save his family from Hades, vengeful god of the underworld, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades. The journey itself is filled with action adventure and captured in 3D.

The film is the latest release to cash in on the craze for 3D. But star of the movie, Worthington, said that technical advances would have little effect on his role as an actor.

Worldwide, 3D screenings accounted for just over half of total sales even though the film played in more 2D locations. Since the success of "Avatar," Hollywood has rushed to capitalize on 3D movies because studios can charge higher ticket prices for the experience. "Clash of the Titans" is not even a true 3D film since it was converted from 2D after filming was completed.

"Clash of the Titans" opens in theaters in the US on April 2. It will hit cinemas in China on April the 16th.
