People vows to spare no effort for Shanghai 2010 World Expo

The 100-day countdown to the opening of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo has begun. Expo organizers, municipal authorities as well as local residents gathered Thursday, vowing to spare no effort in the final preparations.

With 100 days to go before the global party begins, people in Shanghai are getting down to their final preparations.

According to Expo officials, some 192 countries, and 50 different organizations, have already confirmed their participation in the event.

Officials estimate that Shanghai will welcome some 70 million visitors over the course of the expo, which runs from May 1st to the end of October.

Planning for events, ticket sales, promotion, security and transport is well underway as well as recruitment of volunteers.

Officials have vowed to ensure quality customer service during the event.
