Special Report: Shanghai World Expo 2010 |
The purple clay teapots produced in Yixing in east China, are loved by connoisseurs of the brew. And now, Shanghai-based ceramics master Xu Sihai and his students have produced a special set as a tribute to the 2010 Shanghai Expo. The teapots were unveiled on Monday.
The designs were inspired by the distinctive shapes of Chinese characters. The workmanship of each of the teapots is exquisite. It's the first attempt at combining the Chinese language with the centuries-old craft of purple clay. The teapots will be on display during the World Expo.
