UN secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is urging Iran to fully cooperate with inspections conducted by the UN's nuclear agency.

He's also calling for Tehran to engage constructively in negotiations.

Following the disclosure of Iran's new facility, UN chief Ban Ki-moon expressed "grave concern" about Iran's continued uranium enrichment.

The secretary-general says the newly disclosed facility violated UN Security Council resolutions.

Ban Ki-Moon, UN secretary General, said, "In my meeting with President Ahmadinejad I said clearly and directly that the burden of proof is Iran to demonstrate that his nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes. I urged him to open the country's new structure to prompt and full inspection to engage constructively in negotiations."

Ban ki-moon also denied Iranian government's accusation that he was simply repeating statements by Western powers instead of waiting for a report from the UN nuclear agency.
