A surprising win at the 2009 World Curling Championships set the bar high for the Chinese women's curling team. Since that time however, the team has had an up and down run.After a solid showing at the Vancouver Olympics, winning a bronze the team struggled at the World Championships. Now, the team has been thrust under the spotlight.
After six-years of hard work and training, the Chinese women's national curling team of Zhou Yan, Yue Qingshuang, Liu Yin and skip Wang Bingyu are now considered one of the best rinks in the world.
The team claimed the world title at last year's world championships.
But this year, the defending champions fell short of expectations at the world championships in March, as they opened the tournament slowly...and failed to make the playoffs.
Following their showing, rumors began to rumble about the future of the rink. Some, wondered if this "golden team" would be disassembled or if members would be headed for retirement in the near future.
However, the team says the rumors are just that.
