China's disaster relief departments have initiated a top level emergency response in the quake-hit areas of Qinghai Province.

Relief funds were allocated by the country's financial departments within 24 hours after the quake.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs has sent 5,000 tents, 50,000 cotton coats and 50,000 quilts to the quake-hit region. The Public Security Ministry has dispatched 1,775 firefighters, 460 police officers and 160 medical care workers.
