Firefighters and soldiers from Qinghai, as well as neighboring provinces and autonomous regions, have been mobilized for the search and rescue efforts.

Sichuan Province has dispatched 300 firefighters on two planes to the quake zone. Many of these salvage individuals served tours of duty during the rescue operations that followed the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. They bring with them sniffer dogs, life-detection units, and radio equipment.

A convoy of 9 vehicles from Xi'an is also on the way. The 50 firefighters will travel nearly two-thousand kilometers to Yushu County, and they are expected to arrive on Thursday evening. Soldiers stationed in Qinghai have joined the search and rescue operations as well.
