CPPCC members representing China's Lunar Exploration Program have reported further progress of the country's missions to the moon. China will launch Chang'e-2, its second lunar probe in October, carried by the Long March 3-C rocket. The country will also launch Tiangong-1, a target spacecraft next year.
CPPCC member, Liang Xiaohong, said Chang'e-2 was preparing for the second phase of China's lunar exploration program, the soft landing. It will be launched to conduct an inspection of the moon's surface and carry out further technological tests. The Long March 3-C rocket has already been launched twice. General assembly and overall adjustment of the rocket is currently being carried out. After the lift-off of Tiangong-1, China will launch the Shenzhou-8, Shenzhou-9 and Shenzhou-10 space crafts.
Liang Xiaohong, Vice President of China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, said, "According to our plans for space missions to progress from unmanned to manned docking, these three spacecraft will meet and dock with the target spacecraft in two years."
