Special Report: Strong Quake Hits Haiti |

Three days after the earthquake, reports of the extent of devastation in Haiti are getting worse. A UN humanitarian effort is underway despite logistical challenges.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he will travel to the quake-hit country on Sunday to show solidarity with the Haitian people and UN staff.

Ban Ki-moon says the UN operations center set up on Friday in Port-au-Prince airport is coordinating the work of 27 search and rescue teams. Aid flights continue to arrive, and distribution of food and medical supplies has begun in the capital.
