The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Navy Admiral Mike Mullen has pressed for continued diplomacy with Iran adding that any military strike on the country would be "very destabilizing."

Mullen made the remarks at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a think tank.

Mike Mullen, Chairman of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff,"I believe that they're on a path that has strategic intent to develop nuclear weapons and have been for some time, and as I've said in more than one forum, I think that outcome is potentially a very, very destabilizing outcome. On the other hand, when asked about striking Iran, that also has a very, very destabilizing outcome."
