British police are cooperating with US authorities to investigate the suspected bomber who tried to blow up a Delta Air Lines flight bound for Detroit.

British authorities are carrying out investigations in London, in connection to the foiled attack on Northwest Airlines Flight 253.

Dr. Sally Leivesley, Security Expert, said, "I think we'll find that there are some strains in this that are similar to some past attacks in the UK and past aviation attempts with liquid explosives."

The suspect, 23-year-old, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was described by multiple US officials as a son of a wealthy Nigerian banker.

On Saturday, University College London said a former student with the same name as the suspected bomber, studied mechanical engineering between 2005 and 2008. But UCL's spokesman stressed at present, there was no conclusive evidence that the student and the bombing suspect was the same person.

However, London police were already unfolding probes into the student's apartment in Central London, trying to find some clues.

Being the son of prominent Nigerian banker has added more twists to the probes. The former bank official Alhaji Umaru Mutallab had previously stated he was afraid his son might be the person who attempted to blow the plane. He told police that his son was studying in London, and left for Yemen. The father's remarks are yet to be confirmed.
