Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced that ousted former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will give an economic lecture to 300 people in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh this Thursday.
It is Thaksin's latest move since he was named the economic adviser of Cambodia.
Hun Sen returned from the inaugural Mekong-Japan summit when he announced the lecture at a press conference held at the Phnom Penh International Airport.
He said he had already informed Thai Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, of Thaksin's upcoming lecture in Cambodia. But he stopped short of revealing Thaksin's exact arrival time.
Thaksin was ousted in a military coup three years ago for alleged corruption. Since then, he has lived abroad and escaped the Thai government's attempts of arrest.
The rift between the two neighboring southeast Asian countries has intensified since Thaksin was named the economic adviser of Cambodia last month. Thailand has recalled its ambassador to Cambodia, and Cambodia followed suit.
