Thais protest outside Cambodia embassy over invite

2009-10-28 11:11 BJT

More than 100 Thais protested in front of Cambodia's embassy in Bangkok, Tuesday morning. The group is condemning Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen. He says Cambodia will not extradite fugitive former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra back to Thailand.

Hun Sen made the remarks during the recent 15th ASEAN Summit. Members of the People's Assembly of Thailand say Hun Sen's statement is insulting to Thailand, the Thai government and its people and is destroying good relations between the two neighboring countries.

Thai protesters demand the Cambodian prime minister apologize immediately. Police ensured law and order was maintained around the Cambodian embassy.
