The US Senate has approved a sanction bill against Iran which bars companies selling fuel to Iran from obtaining US government bids.

The House of Representatives had also passed a bill earlier, which gives the US state and local governments the power to divest investments from companies investing more than 20 million dollars in Iran's petroleum or natural gas operations.

The moves come after the Iranian government told the UN nuclear watchdog that it has a second uranium enrichment plant near Qom.
