A ceremonial concert at Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday night raised the curtain on the center's second anniversary.
This year's concert was performed by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, with Chen Zuohuang, wielding the baton. He is the current art director of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, or NCPA.
The concert opened with Antonin Dvorak's "Carnival Overture", which fit naturally into the jovial aura surrounding the concert hall.
China's young Li Chuanyun then took the stage, giving a heartfelt rendition of " The Violin Concerto in B minor" by Chinese composer Huang Anlun.
Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No.4" brought a moving end to the concert.
NCPA has planned a series of quality programs to mark the 2nd anniversary of its opening.
Theatre goers can look forward to a Night of Opera Classics with maestros from Finland and the Vatican, original productions from the NCPA, as well as three concerts that showcase the most accomplished Chinese-born musicians from around the world.
