Documentary reveals more on Guevara

A documentary on Argentinean born, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, presenting never before published writings by the revolutionary icon, premiered on Monday at the 31st annual Havana Film Festival.

The film "Che, un Hombre Nuevo", which means, 'Che, a New Man' in Spanish, will open commercially next year in Argentina. The highlight will be the unpublished writings by the Argentine-born Marxist guerrilla leader during his days fighting in Bolivia.

Film goers lined up outside Havana's Yara Theater for the special showing, including Guevara's son, Camilo Guevara.

The Argentine director, Tristan Bauer, said he felt like he had found a treasure chest when he accidentally discovered 21 volumes of Guevara's writings in the Argentine Embassy in Bolivia.

Tristan Bauer, director, said, "When someone reveals intimate letters, when someone reveals certain political writings, when someone discovers that beyond the fighting in Bolivia, he kept writing and looking for political and philosophical formulas for our America, to me it is like we are opening a new door, discovering a new Che."

Che Guevara fought alongside Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution before moving on to Africa in 1965. In 1967, he was killed in Bolivia after being captured by government forces.
