Viewers join selection of Spring Festival Gala program

In Beijing, China Central Television is already launching its preparations for the Spring Festival Gala, which is scheduled for mid-February. Round one of program selection got help from experts as well as ordinary TV viewers.

The first round of selection was held at a CCTV studio, where five acts underwent the scrutiny of the Gala's creators and experts. Also, ordinary viewers were invited to contribute their own opinions.

The CCTV Spring Festival Gala has been the single most influential variety show in China for over two decades. It brings together some of the most illustrious entertainers in Chinese-speaking world to give audience a night of joy and merriment on the eve of Chinese New Year.

For the upcoming edition, final decisions about the program will not be made until late January.
