Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
The Chinese mainland is reporting four more deaths from the virus. Eight deaths from A/H1N1 have been previously reported on the mainland.
The new deaths are from Hebei Province in north China, and Gansu Province and the Xinjiang Uygur and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions in northwest China.
China's Ministry of Health stresses local medical institutions and schools should not charge students for inoculations. To effectively combat the flu, the government announced they will provide students, medical staff, public servants and the elderly with the A/H1N1 flu vaccine free of charge.
As the first country to issue a production license for an A/H1N1 vaccine, China inoculated nearly 3.8 million people as of Saturday, with no reports of serious adverse reaction.
