Google's library comes under fire

2010-01-12 14:06 BJT

Chinese writers are not the first to challenge Google over its online library. Authors and publishers in the US, France and Japan have also voiced their doubts and concerns over the violation of copyrights.

Google began setting up its digital library in 2004 to provide a service to American customers. In the past five years, it's put more than ten million books online. But insiders in the press as well as the publishing industry claim that Google has scanned books without authorization, and that this constitutes a serious violation of copyrights.
