China has welcomed President Trump's well wishes to President Xi and the Chinese people. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang confirmed that China is prepared to further improve bilateral cooperation.

"We highly commend US President Trump for sending Lunar New Year greetings to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people. China highly values ties with the US. Just as what President Xi has pointed out, China and the US bear special and important responsibilities and have extensive common interests in terms of maintaining world peace and stability as well as enhancing global development and prosperity. So cooperation between the two countries is the only option. China is willing to undertake joint efforts with the US to expand cooperation and control divergences, as well as promote bilateral ties to achieve greater development on a healthy and stable basis by adhering to the principles of no conflict and confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation," Lu said.
