US President Donald Trump has just sent a letter to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Trump thanked President Xi for congratulating him after his November election win, and wished the people of China a happy Lantern Festival.

The White House says the letter also expresses Trump's willingness to work with President Xi to foster ties that benefit both sides.
