The China postgraduate entrance exam was held today, and over 2 million students took it.  And for the first time, people in the work force were allowed to take the exam, and they won't have to give up their jobs to go back to school.  The number of test-takers is up 20 percent from last year.

For over ten years, an average 1.2 million students took the exam every year.  Last year, the number was nearly 1.8 million.  Experts attribute this year's jump to the work-force applicants. And they also call attention to the no-show rate.

This year it's over 10 percent. Experts says it's because applicants get suitable job offers before the test date or can't bear the long preparation period.  They advise applicants not to just follow the herd, but to have a plan that suits themselves before registering for the test.
