The Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe in central Africa have cut their so-called "diplomatic ties" with Taiwan. Spokesperson for China's foreign ministry, Hua Chunying said China praises the move.

Hua reiterated that the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government to represent China and said China welcomes the African country's stance on the one-China principle.
