To France, for hockey action, the Chinese women's national team would be playing Italy in Olympic qualifying. The Chinese ladies lost their opening two games to France and Latvia, eliminating any chance of making it to Pyeonchang, but they were hoping to end their qualifying on a high.

No scoring in the first, so we go to the second, and the Italians do some good work in the crease and fire home a loose puck. The keeper cannot cover it up and Sabina Florian is able to fire it home.

China would pull the goalie in the third, but that backfires as they lose the face-off leading to an empty-net goal. Michelina Angeloni fires it the length of the ice. Italy win 3-zip, and China finish qualifying with three losses from three games, and will not be playing in Pyeongchang.
