We hit the ice for hockey as the defending NHL champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins were at home to the Boston Bruins. The high flying Penguins came in one point behind Montreal and Chicago for first place in the league and on a six game winning streak. And this close game would require overtime and Bryan Rust would give the fans of the Flightless Fowl reason to cheer.

Midway through the first period, Zdeno Chara sends it up ice to Patrice Bergeron and David Backes leaves it for Brad Marchand who slips it past Matt Murray for his ninth goal of the season and it's 1-0 Bruins.

But two minutes later Conor Sheary brings it up with pace and Sidney Crosby finds a wide open Justin Schultz who fires it into the top corner. Beautiful shot and it's 1-1.

Second period now and the Bruins go to work in the Pittsburgh zone. They get it behind the Pens net and the centering pass bounces through traffic to David Krejci who tucks it in to give Boston a 2-1 lead.

Three minutes later and the Penguins on the power play and Nick Bonino carries it over the line and elects to shoot. Good call as he beats Tuukka Rask. His fifth of the season levels things at 2 apiece.

Third period and the Pens with the man advantage again. Schultz slides the puck over to Brian Dumoulin whose shot is redirected by Sheary to give Pittsburgh their first lead of the night at 3-2.

But the champs get sloppy with just under seven minutes to play and David Pastrnak sneaks in then wraps around Murray to score with a backhand. His 19th goal of the season is a beauty and we're headed to overtime tied 3-3.

About a minute and a half in, Schultz with a long pass to Evgeni Malkin sends it forward and Rust flicks it past Rask for the game winner. His eighth of the campaign moves Pittsburgh to the top of the standings on a seven game win streak.

It was a tight game in Ottawa where Kevin Labanc scored in a shootout to lead the Sharks over the Senators. Brian Boyle and Alex Killorn both scored twice in Tampa Bay's 6-3 win over Calgary, and Philly held off the Avalanche to win 4-3 for thier tenth straight.
