A suicide car bombing has killed 14 soldiers and wounded dozens more in the central city of Kayseri of Turkey.

In the early hours of Saturday - a car bomb exploded outside the Erciyes University in Kayseri, Turkey. The bomb was detonated next to a bus carrying commando soldiers going on their weekend. Ambulances were rushed to the scene as police secured the area.

At the site - a wreckage left behind by the car bomb and a destroyed bus with a visible hole on the side of the bomb. Some civilians marched to the area with Turkish flags in show of solidarity.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim made a statement shortly after the attack, he emphasized Turkey would remain determined in its' fight against terror and would not be intimidated by these attacks.

"Whatever the name of the group, whatever its' form, terror is shameful, it is inhumane. Killing civilians is like killing humanity. These attacks will not weaken our fight against terror, but on the contrary strengthen it," he said.

The target of this attack - once again Turkish security forces.

"Every bullet aimed at our security forces is a bullet aimed at our nation. Every act is one made against our nation. We will fight terror all together as a community, as civilians, as a nation," said Kemal Kilicdaroglu, CHP opposition party leader.

In Kayseri an angry group of people attacked the Kurdish - People's Democratic Party - "HDP" building chanting slogans of revenge. They trashed the offices, burning furniture and throwing them out the windows.

The bombing comes only one week after Turkey was hit by a similar attack in Istanbul which had killed 44 police officers. That attack was claimed by a Kurdish group the TAK. Though an investigation is underway - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Kurtulmus stated the main suspect is the Kurdistan Worker's Party PKK.
