China's Earthquake Administration says a magnitude-6.2 quake hit in the northwestern region of Xinjiang on Thursday. Tremors shook buildings near the epicentre in Hutubi County, about 100 kilometers west of the regional capital of Urumqi.
There were no major damage or casualties. The quake was also felt in Urumqi, and in Shihezi, about 100 kilometers to the west of Hutubi. Local officials said they were investigating damage in two townships.
