In the middle east, there was some terrible news from the golf course at the Dubai Ladies Masters as caddie Maximilian Zechmann collapsed and was taken to hospital where he died.
56-year-old Zechmann went down on the 13th fairway and was attended to by the on-site medical team before being taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Zechmann was carrying the bag of France's Anne-Lise Caudal.
Play was suspended once the severity of the situtation was understood and round one will resume on Thursday while the tournament has been scaled back to 54 holes.
"We suspended the game, the play, at 10.30 this morning and just half an hour ago we were informed that to my great regret that our caddie has passed away," said Ivan Khodabakhsh, Ladies European Tour Chief Executive.
"Out of respect for the family and the person we have decided the suspend the play for the entire day today and we will be informing the family, we have informed the family."
