Eldrick has been hampered by a back problem that has held him from playing competitively in 15 months. He would be hosting the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas -- an 18-man event, that saw El Tigre struggle and show flashes of his old form.

So the 14-time major winners first tee shot in a competitive event would stray off to the left, it avoids the bunker -- but not the greatest lie.

Tiger would play solid golf on the front nine -- this chip on three from the fringe sets him for a birdie. He would get ot minus-3 at one point

But things fell apart in the last part of the day -- his tee shot finds a bush on 16, and his recovery shot doesn't get too far out of trouble.

On 18 his tee shot again veers left -- maybe he should keep his driver in his bag. He finds the drink -- Woods ends the day with a 1-over 73, and is second last in the 18-man field.

Jordan Spieth struggled early in this round, but turned things around, thanks to this chip-in on the ninth. The 2-time major winner is four off the pace.

Hideki Matsuyama had a solid round -- this is for eagle on 15, and the Japanese finds himself alone in second sitting at minus 7.

J.B. Holmes bogeyed his first hole, but after that, he racked up seven birdies including this on 11. That performance helps him get to 8-under and the lead.

So J-B is your leader, one in front of Matsuyama. Dustin Johnson is alone in third at minus six. Tiger is well back at plus one, but at least he is ahead of Justin rose, the olympic champ is at two-over.
