This year has been unlike many in the past. Experience usually plays a role in the four biggest tournaments, with the idea being that veterans can withstand the pressure of the moment. But the winners of 2016's first three Grand Slams have all been first timers, and Jimmy Walker would look to continue that trend at Baltrusol, as the American got off to a fast start in the Opening Round.

Here is Gentleman Jimmy putting from the fringe at seven, and he would be on target for the second of his six birdies in the round. He would have five tweets in a seven hole stretch to take a one shot lead, at five under par.

Defending champ Jason Day looking a strong start as he takes his approach at one, and sends the ball onto the green to set up the first of his three birdies in the round. The Aussie is at minus two, three back.

Playing partner Rory McIlroy would miss his par putt at two, and eventually card a four over par 74 -- he is in danger of missing the cut.

Similar result for the final member of their threesome, as Phil Mickelson is wide to the right at 10. "Lefty" ends up at plus one.

The man who outdueled Mickelson to win the 145th Open Championship in much better shape. Henrik Stenson launches his approach at two all the way to the green, to set up the first of his five birdies. The Swede is just two shots behind the leader.

So after the opening session at Baltusrol, so the American, Walker is one stroke in front of Ross Fisher, Emiliano Grillo, and two-time major winner Martin Kaymer. Stenson is part of a four-way logjam for fifth.
